Praveen Kumar Sobti is an Indian actor, politician, and athlete. He was born in Sarhali Kalan, Punjab, India on the 6th of December in the year 1947. He was famous for playing the role of Bhim in Mahabharat in the year 1988. He was also renowned for being an athlete who played hammer and discus throw. He completed his schooling at a government school in Sarhali Kalan, Punjab.
On the 7th of February in 2022, he died because of a cardiac attack at his Ashok Vihar Nagar house, New Delhi.

He began his career in sports. He started playing Hammer and Discus throw in the 1960s. He has the advantage of tall height which helped him to win more competitions. In 1966, he won a gold medal at the Asian Games. In 1966, he won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games in Kingston. In the year 1981, he started his career in the entertainment industry. He made his debut in Bollywood in the year 1981 by playing the role of Gorilla in the film Raksha.
He became very famous for his TV serial Mahabharata where he played the role of Bheem. In 2013, he joined politics and became a member of the Aam Aadmi Party. And in the year 2014, he left AAP and went to join BJP.

He belongs to a Hindu Khatru middle-class family. He has 5 siblings among them 1 was sister and 4 were brothers. He was a married man.
