Her pageantry victory opened many doors in the Indian film industry, including a meeting with Tips, which leads to a three-film deal. Gill was originally hoping to land the role in Bollywood, but her Hindi-speaking skills were an issue. Coming from a Punjabi family, Gill was proficient in speaking Punjabi and decided to work in Punjabi films instead. Gill landed in Mumbai as a talent agent and went to acting school before making her film debut.
Monica made her Punjabi (Pollywood) movie debut in the 2016 Tips movie Ambarsariya opposite Diljit Dosanjh. That year, she acted in three blockbuster Punjabi films one after the other. The following year, she made her Hindi film debut in the 2017 film Firangi. In 2018, she was seen in the Hindi film Paltan, where she played the love interest of Harshvardhan Rane.
