Elisabet Avramidou Granlund, she is professionally known as Elli Avram, is a Swedish Greek actress and is now based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Elli is also known for her Bollywood film Micky Virus (released on 25 October 2013). Elli came to prominence after joining the Indian reality TV program Bigg Boss Season 7.
Early Life
Avram took an interest in figure singing, dancing, & skating, from her initial years. Elli got to study acting from her mother and aunt who runs a theater in Skåne County, Sweden. The actress felt a connection to India since her childhood. In a conference with the local Stockholm press Mitt I, the actress stated, “Even when I was five, I was fascinated by Indian dance and the colorful outfits.” Since Elli’s father is a Greek musician, the actress found some Greek songs are related to Indian melodies. Career 2007-2012
Pretty Elli became a member of the Stockholm-based Pardesi Dance Group, and gave dance plays, primarily on Hindi songs, At the age of 17. The actress has completed many acting projects in Sweden, the most important of them is the December 2008 crime drama romance film, Förbjuden Frukt, where Avram acted the part of Selen – the lead role teen girlfriend. Förbjuden Frukt is set against the backdrop of violent criminality, where Elli falls in love with a guy with a criminal past. In the year 2010, Elli joined in the Miss Greece beauty contest. Elli also performed on the Swedish TV-show Gomorron Sverige.

About the decision of acting in Bollywood films, she expressed in an interview with N Magazine, ” When I was 14, I had a television in my room and watched Devdas, starring Shah Rukh Khan (King Khan) & Aishwarya Rai) which is almost 4 hours long. Elli didn’t move the entire time. Avram thought, ‘Wow, Avram desire to act and dance like that. Elli has to do Bollywood films.'” Elli signed up with a modeling agency and soon got a work visa. The agency helped her getting auditions. The 1st considerable project Elli managed to get was a television advertisement for Eveready Industries India with the leading Indian actor Akshay Kumar. The 1st Swedish actress to play in Bollywood, Avram has been noted for expressions very similar to the actress Katrina Kaif.
Career 2013
Avram eventually received her 1st breakthrough by bagging a lead cast in Saurabh Varma’s comedy thriller movie Mickey Virus, which was released on 25 October 2013. The beautiful actress recalled, “The photographer who took photographs of me knew a filmmaker who was seeing for a girl for a lead part. I called him and had come to audition for his film.” Elli disclosed, “Before I auditioned for Mickey Virus, I asked the director to send me the lines so Avram could memorize the words because Avram didn’t know Hindi yet.
I was sent 4 pages of dialogue and no one could know how to pronounce certain words. At the trial, they loved my acting but the accent wasn’t right.” Elli was shortlisted along with two hundred other hopefuls and managed to knock others. Avram revealed in a conference, “When I said to the director that mom worked with Ingmar Bergman, he gave a strong reaction: ‘What!? Has she worked with Bergman?’ They were incredibly impressed.” For her Bollywood launch, Elli has received formal practice in dance form and Hindi pronunciation. In this movie, Elli acts the part of Kamayani George, the love interest of the part Mickey Virus, acted by Manish Paul, who is a successful television host and is making his debut in the film industry. The movie, shot in Delhi, India, was released on 25th October 2013.
Career 2013-Present
In the year 2013, Avram joined as a candidate on an Indian reality television program, Bigg Boss 7, where celebrities from many walks of life live together in a big house, completely cut off from the outside world. They try to avoid being evicted every week by public votes, to reward money at the end. The program, based on Dutch-based Endemol’s Big Brother, went on aired on Colours Television in September 2013 and is hosted by Salman Khan.
After spending 10 weeks on the program, Elli got evicted in 2013. Avram told in an interview with PTI (Press Trust of India), “I did not come to Bigg Boss for money or fame but with the agenda to have entertainment. This program has supported me become a household name. I am very humbled by the appreciation I have got from the fans and will cherish this knowledge for years to come.” In 2013, colleges in Chandigarh, India, reportedly banned the students from possessing or displaying banners of Avram on the campus and dormitories as the college authorities considered her pictures inappropriate.
Avram played a dance act on the song “Chamma Chamma”. The special song was released in 2018 by Tips Industries and earned over 15 million YouTube views in just three days of its release.
