Deepak Niwas Hooda was born on 10 June 1994 in the village Chamaria, district Rohtak, Haryana. His father Ramniwas Hooda was a poor farmer and his mother was a housewife. His mother also died in the year 1998 when he was just four years old. After which Deepak’s father and sister raised him. His father also died when he was in 12th standard.

And then he was forced to leave his schooling and work as a teacher to earn bread for himself and his sister. He would teach children in school in the morning and go to the village to play kabaddi in the evening. When Deepak was struggling with his difficult times, one day Narendra Hooda from the same village posted in Haryana Police advised him to play Kabaddi.

Following Narendra’s advice, Deepak started playing Kabaddi in 2009 and within a few days, he developed a passion for Kabaddi. He started going to Kabaddi coach Jagmal Narwal, about 30 km from his village, to learn the nuances of Kabaddi. There coach Jagmal Narwal nurtured his talent for almost a year and worked on improving his technique.

After the financial situation was fine, he first completed his 12th standard which was left incomplete after his father’s death, and then completed his graduation. Along with his studies, Deepak also started playing in the Kabaddi team of his college. Deepak played in the All-India University Tournament and gained the gold medal, afterward, Deepak gave his full time to Kabaddi. After winning the gold medal in the All India University Tournament, Deepak worked harder to pursue his career in Kabaddi and in 2014, with his exceptional talent, Deepak entered the Haryana Kabaddi team and played at the senior national level in Patna.
